Let December take me home to second tier

-

CHARLIE TELFER reckons a December reign can take Falkirk to paradise city in terms of their title hopes.

It’s been all guns blazing for the Bairns who are coming up roses, having stormed six points clear with a 3-0 win over Clyde.

Now they have title rivals Airdrie and Partick Thistle in their sights.

Telfer said: “We looked at December as a really big month with four key games. That’s two down with two to come, so hopefully we can maintain our run of form.

“We have a really strong squad this season and the guys on the bench all feel they should be starting.

“I had to wait for my time – Aidan Connolly the same – and the standard in training is so high that you have to be at your best to keep your place.”

Telfer fired Falkirk in front with a great finish after Conor Sammon’s knockdown in 30 minutes.

Then Connolly’s corners in 55 and 59 minutes were converted by Scott Mercer and Ben Hall respectively.

It was Clyde’s first game in three weeks after Covid problems put paid to clashes with Forfar and East Fife, which has sparked an SPFL probe.

Boss Danny Lennon said: “It’s been a difficult couple of weeks so I can only commend the players at how they stuck at the task, even at three down.”

Partick Thistle beat Forfar 2-0 to move second in the table.

The Jags took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Shea Gordon headed home.

And three points were guaranteed when Ross

Docherty curled home 10 minutes from time.

Cove Rangers lost 1-0 at Dumbarton to register a third defeat in four outings.

Sons keeper Kevin Dabrowski made fine stops from Leighton McIntosh in the first half before Nat Wedderburn headed home Ross Forbes’ free-kick six minutes after the break.

Russell McLean made it five goals in five games as Montrose moved above Airdrie with a 1-0 success.

McLean accepted a pass from Cammy Ballantyne in 51 minutes before netting.

Scott Brown’s volley early in the second half secured a 2-1 win for Peterhead over East Fife.

Lyall Cameron drilled the Blue Toon ahead but Danny Denholm levelled before Peterhead’s Gary Fraser was sent off.
