Del: We must be on point at Pittodrie

- BY DAVID McCARTHY

DEREK DE McINNES saw his side pick up another point on the road – then the demanded they start showing the same form at Pittodrie.

The T 0-0 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park saw them slip behind Hibs into fourth in the table.

But the Aberdeen boss was satisfied with a result that means they have lost only one league game on their travels, at Ibrox, all season.

McInnes said: “The energy and effort of the team was good from the outset. It was our third clean sheet in a row so it is not the worst result in the world.

“It is a point away from home but it will only be a good point if we win our next two home games.

“Listen, we have only lost once in the league on the road. We have been competitive. If you pick up points away and win your home games, you are never too far away.”

Motherwell No.2 Keith Lasley was also pleased with his side’s battling display that ended a run of four successive defeats.

And he praised the defensive resilience shown by the team to keep the clean sheet.

Lasley said: “It was pleasing to take a point off a good team and there were plenty of positives for us after being on a tricky run.

“The boys turned in a dogged, hungry display and that’s what we need during this busy period.

“A lack of goals is a concern but in a lot of the games recently it has come down to fine margins.”

Lasley also addressed the disappointing news that Wigan are on the verge of recalling loan striker Callum Lang next month.

The striker had signed a seasonlong loan but caretaker Latics boss Leam Richardson will use the option to take him back.

It’s a blow for Well as Lang has scored five goals since his arrival.

Lasley said: “There might be the possibility of new arrivals in January. It’s unfortunate that Callum is going to be recalled by Wigan but that’s their call.”
