I like to avoid that Sunday nght dread

-

NORMALLY on a Friday night, I try to make the most of it. I often spend time with my family and then, afterwards, I see friends and we’ll go for dinner and drinks. In Birmingham, a place I really like to go is Lasan, which means garlic. It’s an Indian restaurant and it’s just fantastic. It’s authentic food with a contemporary twist.

I’m always up early these days, so on a Saturday morning I’ll go for a run, especially if I’ve had a heavy meal the night before as I’ll feel guilty. And I put the radio on when I’m at home. I find it really relaxing – I’ll listen to a bit of jazz.

I cook myself a slightly different breakfast on a Saturday, like this past weekend I had a Parsi omelette, which is tomatoes, onions, a bit of chilli and coriander.

If it’s a day of sport then I’ll keep an eye on the football or cricket, so the telly will go on by lunchtime. In the afternoon I’d probably go for a walk with some friends. I look after a friend’s dog, Robin, so we take him out for a nice long wander.

If I’ve been out on the Friday night, Saturday will probably be a night in and I love cooking – normally a curry. I do like watching Saturday night TV. It’s a time to put my feet up and watch Ant and Dec.

On Sundays I’m up early again – I rarely sleep in nowadays. It’s a bit of a chores day in my house, especially the morning. I’ll try to get everything done so I can watch the football in the afternoon. In the summer I’ll be in the garden, I’ll dead-head, get the leaf blower out. And I’ve got a lot of indoor plants, so I’ll water those. This past Sunday I made a lemon cake.

I try not to book anything on a Monday morning to avoid having that Sunday-night dread. I like to watch something a bit different on TV on a Sunday night – a documentary by David Attenborough or a travel show.

Lingo airs Sunday to Friday, times vary, STV.
