We found all that’s new for 2021 – here in the UK

-

WHEN many foreign trips were put on hold because of lockdown restrictions, it inspired a world of creative thinking around leisure time. While some of us developed a soft spot for staycations, others discovered a love for the great outdoors or took up a new hobby.

Here we’ve rounded up the UK’s most exciting new travel offerings, events and anniversaries for 2021 which indulge our new-found passions and pastimes.

Stay and play

LAUNCHING this spring, inland surf pool The Wave in Bristol will offer the chance to enjoy luxury surfside glamping. But there’s not a guy rope in sight on these upmarket safari tent abodes. They feature gleaming kitchens, bathrooms and large private balconies, perfect for soaking up the sun and gazing at the stars.

The on-site Clubhouse, where guests can enjoy a meal and a drink, is just a short walk away and pop-up food outlets are located in the grounds. Surfing lessons are available in the 590ft pool, which produces 1000 quality waves per hour ranging from 1.7ft to 6.5ft. There are also non-guided sessions for intermediate and advanced surfers who just want to catch some waves. All-day spectator passes are £2. thewave.com

Animal magic

HOW about getting some beauty sleep with the beasts at West Midlands Safari Park, Kidderminster?

Eight new lodges will give you a close-up overnight wildlife experience during summer in the reserves. Six lodges offer views of African elephants, with two more lodges having cheetahs to watch. Guests can also observe the animals as night falls during an evening meal, then wake up to the wildlife enjoying their morning feed during breakfast.

Safari lodge short breaks include daytime admission to the park and theme park wristbands. £171 per adult per night (child from £147). safari-lodges.co.uk
