THE post-Old Firm was never going to be dull.

The title’s over... not it’s not. It was never a red card... oh yes it was.

Alfredo Morelos is a villain... no that’s Neil Lennon.

It certainly seems as if there’s life left in panto season.

Curtain up on the bickering then and let’s start with Bobby Madden’s big decisions.

Robert Montgomery, Kirkconnel, said: “So Madden thought Morelos was through on goal with a clear scoring opportunity? In my opinion it spoiled a brilliant game.

“Has Madden not seen the last clear scoring opportunity Morelos had against Celtic? He was a metre in front of empty goals and hit the ball off the post and into the keeper’s hands – come on Bobby, it must be clearer.”

Gerard Kelly added: “Why was an SFA referee holding back Morelos from stopping him getting sent off in the second half ? And as for Nir Bitton getting sent off saying he prevented a goalscoring opportunity... Morelos dived and would have never scored.

“Madden should be fined and suspended by the SFA for his actions.”

Scott Kerr, Knightswood, blasted: “How Morelos was still on the pitch is beyond me.

“He should have been off for persistent fouling and for pushing Scott B r ow n . Rangers were rank rotten in the match and they got lucky with the sending off and an own goal.” But William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “I’m a Celtic fan and I don’t agree with Lennon over the red card.

“Bitton was last man and brought the player down. But what really got me was why Morelos wasn’t yellow-carded in first half with that challenge on Jeremie Frimpong?

“With his booking later on in the second half he should have been sent off.”

On to the banter and bickering now with Hotline regular Gordon Ashley the jester in the eyes of Gers fans.

Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “Not a great first half but three points is three points and now the gap is 19.

“Allan McGregor was outstanding just like Andy Goram years ago.

“Will Gordon Ashley of Ayr be the new Lord Lucan – disappearing for a while now after this result?”

George Wilson, West Sussex, added: “Celtic’s reign is over. Now let’s see what nonsensical and comical

“We’ve had Covid-19... now there’s the terrible Celtic-19”

excuses Ashley comes up with this time. If he says Rangers were lucky, let’s remember the 2019 League Cup Final and getting awarded the league in a Zoom conference.”

Cue the aforementioned Gordon Ashley who said: “The game disproved this myth they are a better football team than us as with two full teams on the park we totally outclassed them. As usual a friendly ref saved them – but I’ve a feeling this league isn’t over yet.”

Martin Baird, Glasgow, piled on the misery for the

Hoops saying: “We’ve suffered for too long with Covid-19. Now we have the terrible Celtic-19.

“Symptoms include falling way behind, uncontrollable tears, always having excuses and being laughed at for long periods. Sufferers should lock down and only return when capable of saying cheerio to 10 in a row.”

The result piles pressure on Lennon and

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge,

said: “A great performance from a team and formation that’s been available for months. Lennon’s failings to make these blatantly obvious changes weeks ago is the biggest factor in the huge gap and ultimately will cost us the coveted 10 and him his job.”

But there are Hoops still holding out hope for a minor title miracle.

Steve McSherry, Uddingston,

said: “That performance proved that when we play well we are far too good for any club in Scotland.

“There are signs that Rangers haveave peaked andnd will now falterer so I’m sure we will still haveve a major say.”

A lan Lough, Dunbar, isn’t giving up. He said: “When

Kevin Keegan was in charge of Newcastle they were 15 points in the lead in the New Year and Man United won the title. Celtic are under pressure but it isn’t rocket science. Ten in a row isn’t down the toilet yet.” Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “A better performance from Celtic but not scoring when you’re on top often comes back to bite you. Stupid sending off and a lucky goal changed the game. TheTh season could hhave been ddifferent if the mmanager made ththose changes momonths ago.” EEmail us todtoday and have youyour say on all the big sporting issuissues: hotline@ dailydailyrecord.co.uk
