QUEEN’S PARK v QOS

RAY McKINNON does not want tonight’s Scottish Cup at Hampden to be Queen’s Park’s last in 115 years.

The League 2 Spiders are set to move to Lesser Hampden before the end of the season.

The only way they will play at the National Stadium in the tournament again would be as semifinalists or finalists, unless they win tonight and get a home tie in the next round.

McKinnon said: “We do not want it to be the last Scottish Cup tie this club plays at Hampden.

“Queen of the South look to have turned their season around with two great victories against Raith Rovers and Ayr so we need to be at our best.”

The teams played earlier this season in the Betfred Cup with the Dumfries side winning 3-1.

McKinnon said: “We did not play at full pace that night and hopefully, we have learned. If we win and get an away draw at least we will have ended our Scottish Cup games at Hampden on a high.”

Queens boss Allan Johnston insists this is a game between two Championship squads because of the cash the Spiders have splashed.

He said: “Queen’s Park are paying more money than we can pay and they have put together a squad of Premiership and Championship players.”

STI RLING ALBION chairman Stuart Brown admits tomorrow’s Scottish Cup second- round tie against Raith Rovers looks certain to be off.

There will be a pitch inspection at Forthank today but Brown said: “The pitch is frozen solid and the weather forecast is for minus six overnight so the prospects are bleak.”

If the game is off it will be played on Tuesday.
