GLOVELY STUFF FOR BOSS ROSS

-

JACK ROSS insists Hibs will be in safe hands against Celtic regardless of who gets chucked the gloves for Parkhead.

The Easter Road gaffer last night completed a deal for Arsenal product Matt Macey and has recalled kid Kevin Dabrowski from his loan spell at Dumbarton to cover Ofir Marciano’s injury and Dillon Barnes’ return to QPR.

Ross is delighted to dodge a potential keeper crisis and has confidence in both of the shot-stoppers he has at his disposal to face the champions on Monday.

He said: “Dillon getting called back was something we were aware of, so that’s why we went and were able to conclude this other deal relatively quickly.

“It’s not an easy position to fill in this particular window, especially if we have an established No.1 in Ofir whose form has been good so it wasn’t like we were in a crisis in terms of performance levels.

“We just found ourselves short in terms of numbers in that department.

“We will assess it over the next few days and make a decision. We believe that whoever we played would be good enough to do so and handle the challenge they’d face on Monday.

“There is no doubt that Kevin has made good progress during his time at Dumbarton. He has been brought back to compete to play. He has deserved that opportunity.”

Ross is looking to bolster his squad during this month’s transfer window – and also keep hold of star turns such as Kevin Nisbet.

He said: “I’m hopeful of at least one or two but it may be that if we do anything more, we would look to trade our way round that.”
