HE’S NO LAME DUC

- BY GARRY OWEN

DUC DE GRISSAY (2:40) can land the North Yorkshire Grand National for Jedburgh handler Sandy Thomson.

The progressive chaser would have won the Borders version at Kelso but for coming down at the final fence.

The eight-year-old is nicely unexposed as a stayer so he can gain due compensation under Ryan Mania at Catterick.

TIMELY GIFT (1.10) can shade a competitive novices’ handicap chase for trainer Tim Vaughan.

The gelding can build on his good second to the progressive Shanty Alley on his fencing bow at Uttoxeter.

BARRICHELLO (1.40) looks the best of Donald McCain’s strong team in the novice hurdle.

The five- year- old ran a stormer when second to the experienced South Terrace over course and distance. The gelding is open to plenty of progress over 2m 4f so he can open his account for his thriving trainer.

The Cheshire handler can also claim the closing twomiler thanks to NEFYN POINT (3.40).

The hurdler is useful on his day and still lurks on a workable mark after chasing home Applaus at Carlisle.

SOME CAN SING (2.10) can make a winning debut for shrewd handler Stuart Edmunds.

The hurdler will take some stopping with a repeat of his excellent third to Beating The Odds at Fairyhouse.

Paul Webber’s GO AS YOU PLEASE (12.50) can bag the trappy Agden Handicap Chase at Bangor.

The gelding can shrug off a lenient 4lb hike for cosily defeating Khairagash in a similar event at Leicester.

NEIL THE LEGEND (1.20) can continue Nicky Henderson’s revival in the Goldford Chase.

The gelding put in his best shift yet for his new yard when slamming Landofsmiles over 2m 6f at Uttoxeter.

The seven-year-old has a bright future over fences.

There are also some decent bets on offer at Fontwell headed by GUSTAVIAN (1.30).

Anthony Honeybal l ’s hurdler can build on his cracking second to Exploiteur at Chepstow.
