Brutal thug tortured rival like Reservoir Dogs scene
Victim tied to chair, slashed and beaten, court told
A SICK thug bound a man with tape before carrying out a Reservoir Dogs-style torture attack – beating him with a hammer and slashing him with a knife.
Paul Davidson burst into the victim’s Edinburgh home and knocked him unconscious before tying him up and putting him on a chair.
The 29-year-old inflicted a brutal torture ordeal on Gary Robinson as he screamed out with his mouth covered.
Davidson used a kitchen knife to slash the side of Robinson’s face and cut his ear, and tried to saw through his collar bone but the blade became tangled in the victim’s dressing gown.
Reservoir Dogs, a 1992 film directed by Quentin Tarantino, features an infamous torture scene where a tied-up cop has his ear cut off.
Davidson appeared via prison video link at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday and pled guilty to assaulting Robinson to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life on October 4. The court heard the bloody rampage was carried out as part of a long-running feud between Davidson’s dad, Paul Davidson Sr, and Robinson. Robinson, 52, was in pyjamas at home in the city’s Restalrig area with a female friend, the hearing was told. At about midnight, there was a knock at the door. It was forced open as Robinson answered it and the door hit him in the face, knocking him unconscious, as three masked men entered.
The court heard Robinson’s wrists and ankles were bound using carpet fitting tape, and it was also wrapped round his head and mouth.
Robinson awoke to find himself being beaten to the head and body with a hammer. He was put on a kitchen chair in the living room and repeatedly knocked to the floor by punches and a mallet before being dragged back on to the seat.
The court was told Davidson removed his face covering so Robinson could see him and shouted: “This is for Forbsy and my dad.” Davidson added: “You will remember who I am. Paul
Davidson Jr.” The court was told a female witness arrived to buy drugs and the door was answered by Davidson. She was ordered to sit next to Robinson’s female friend.
Davidson continued assaulting Robinson while the other men searched the property. Using a kitchen knife, Davidson slashed the victim’s face and cut through his left ear.
Robinson suffered slash wounds to his head and face, three teeth knocked out, and bruises which matched hammer blows. He spent four days in hospital.
Judge Lord Boyd of Duncansby deferred sentence until next month for reports.
