Mum plans Disney trip boost for brave Abbie
A MUM has told of her heartbreak after finding out her five-year-old daughter has a rare disease which will rob her of her sight and ability to walk.
Schoolgirl Abbie May Cresswell was recently diagnosed with juvenile Batten disease, a rare lifelimiting neurodegenerative disorder which affects the nervous system.
Family and friends have now launched a campaign to support Abbie’s family, from Whitehills in Aberdeenshire, and allow her to go on a dream holiday to Disneyland before her condition deteriorates.
Mum Danielle, 30, told the Record: “It has affected the family very badly. We really didn’t expect this type of news and we have had to tell the other two children which is very hard.
“When I was told this, my life just felt like it was torn apart as it isn’t a long lifespan.”
Danielle and partner Ben, 32, have two older children, Kacey, 12, and Scott, 10, and want to help Abbie make the most of life before her illness makes it more difficult.
She added: “I would love to take Abbie to Disneyland while she can still see and give her the life she deserves. I would love to go on a family holiday to make lots of memories.”
