HE WHO DARES WINS

- BY GARRY OWEN

WHO DARES WINS (4.0) looks promising in the Betway Handicap on the all-weather at Newcastle.

Alan King’s veteran put in his best shift for a while when just held by Nate The Great at Wolverhampton last month.

The nine-year-old remains well treated so can strike at a track where he has excelled.

MADEEH (4.30) ought to clinch a course-and-distance treble for shrewd trainer Philip Kirby. The gelding looked better than ever when beating Alborkan here. The five-yearold is nicely unexposed on tapeta so should follow up under old ally Billy Garritty.

CULTURE (5.30) can make a winning debut for his skilled new handler Jedd O’Keeffe.

The gelding ran a stormer when third to Note Bleu at Kempton on his last start for Tom Ward. The five-year-old is open to plenty of progress so stands to take full advantage of an attractive mark.

The Bombardier Handicap is a trappy affair but IMPERIAL COMMAND (6.0) stands out.

Mark Loughnane’s horse bounced back when bolting up from Duesenberg over course and distance last month.

The four-year-old is in peak form so can score thanks to Elisha Whittington’s 5lb claim.

WE STILL BELIEVE (6.30) should boost trainer Ben Haslam’s terrific record at this venue. The gelding slammed solid yardstick Heatherdown Matron on his handicap bow over track and trip.

The three-year-old stayed a mile well that day so can shrug off a well-deserved 5lb penalty.

Kevin Ryan is starting to hit form so it’s worth siding with THE GREAT HEIR (7.0).

The gelding returned to form when edged out by Saisons D’or over course and distance a fortnight ago. The five-yearold has dropped to an attractive mark so looks set to bag his first win since September 2018.

MISS AMELIA (3.0) is well worth punting on a competitive National Hunt card at Catterick.

Mark Walford’s mare can defy a well-earned 5lb penalty for hammering Pistol Park at Carlisle two weeks ago.

Michael Scudamore’s MR CHUA (3.30) has a massive shot in the conditionals’ hurdle.

The gelding was a promising novice and should be fit after a productive spell on the Flat.
