QUOTE OF THE DAY

-

‘We see Celtic fans angry after losing one title in a decade... if ever a title was deserved for loyal support, it’s this one for Rangers’ return, cancel their season tickets and rioting outside the stadium. If ever a title has been deserved for loyal support, it’s this one for Rangers.”

Gordon Ferguson, Kilwinning, said: “Celtic fans reminiscing about quadruple Trebles should be honest and accept that 10 in a row was all that mattered.”

It’s only a question of when Gers seal the title but will they get the chance to complete a Double? Nicola Sturgeon has given the green light for the Scottish Cup and the lower leagues to resume.

But some might not fancy the cost involved in that. William Laing emailed: “How much more of a shambles can Scottish football become? It was only a few days ago the lower leagues were demanding answers from the government over starting back.

“And now some want the season to be declared null and void. Where has the money gone that was given for testing and why wait to get the green light before deciding it’s not feasible to start?”

David Montgomery, Greenock, said: “The SFA were falling over themselves trying to make sure the Scottish Cup was completed when the pandemic was a lot worse than it is now.

“Was it because Rangers are favourites that there was no urgency to get it played this season?”

Scottish football is still mourning the loss of former Motherwell and Liverpool striker Ian St John who has passed away aged 82.

Tom McCool, Chapelhall, said: “I watched him play for Douglas Water in the 1957 Scottish Junior Cup Final and Joe Baker was centre forward for Coltness.

“They both scored a hat-trick – two boys from Motherwell who went on to play at the highest level and are now sadly gone.”

Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “St John was a truly great player from a great era.”

First league start with James Taverier and Leon Balogun injured and the youngster followed his goal against Antwerp with an impressive display.
