I’m enjoying our Magic relations with Rangers

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

ALLAN JOHNSTON admits he is delighted with the links Queen of the South have established with Rangers after Ciaran Dickson became the fourth player to join on loan.

Midfielder Dickson has signed on a deal until the summer and has joined up with Gers team-mates Dapo Mebude, James Maxwell and Rhys Breen at the Championship play-off hopefuls.

Queens boss Magic, who could hand Dickson his debut in tomorrow’s clash with Arbroath, said: “We have established a good working relationship with Rangers and we are grateful to them for letting the loan deal happen.

“Ciaran clearly has a big future in the game.”

Should Rangers keep Alfredo Morelos for the Champions League next season?

JASON HOLT couldn’t hear himself think when the fireworks went off outside the ground in West Lothian.

But the former Rangers midfielder reckons his old club are on course for the title because of explosive displays on the pitch.

The 28-year-old was gutted Livingston couldn’t hold on for a point against the leaders on Wednesday night as Alfredo Morelos struck late on to fire Steven Gerrard’s men to the brink of a first top-flight title in a decade.

Holt played his part in the Rangers redemption story during his five years at Ibrox but has seen a difference in the side this season as they have swept all before them.

Rangers fans outside the Tony Macaroni Arena set off a fireworks display in the 55th minute as the title parties get under way.

And Lions ace Holt admitted the team he’s faced this term have been just as spectacular in their ruthless and relentless approach.

The playmaker said: “It was a bit mad, to be fair.

“As players it’s out of our control. But it did go on for quite a while and I could not hear a thing. I think the difference at Rangers this year is their intensity levels and the fact they are really ruthless.

“There is no let-up in matches against them.

“They are constantly putting pressure on and testing teams.

“When you play against them, you have to be on your toes all the time. They have so many dangerous players. There’s no doubt about it – they are a great team with really great players. We know that.

“You’re always in for a difficult game when you are up against players of that calibre and they’ve shown that across the whole season.

“You know you are going to be in for an extremely difficult game when you play them. You know they are going to be at you for the whole 90 minutes plus stoppage time, however long it takes.”

Holt has been impressed with Rangers but was still gutted David Martindale’s side were undone by a goal in the 87th minute.

He added: “We put a lot of effort into the match and it was disappointing not to come away with anything.”
