Lucas glimpses Chelsea’s true colours, but is he plotting something himself? Coronation Street STV

-

Cherry

Based on Nico Walker’s semiautobiographical novel Cherry, which tells the story of a US army war veteran who returns home with undiagnosed PTSD. He becomes a drug addict and funds his habit through bank robberies, shattering his relationship with the love of his life.

Jack decides to be honest with Denise about the fact that Chelsea propositioned him and then threw in a bit of blackmail for good measure. Denise confronts Chelsea who, instead of apologising, suggests that her bad behaviour is all her dysfunctional parents’ fault.

Chelsea does take a different approach with Lucas, as she turns on the waterworks and insists that if Jack had blown their plan, she’d be dead. He’s convinced, until he later hears his daughter telling Jack that, no matter what he might say, he can’t resist her.

Lucas can’t believe how easily Chelsea lied, but he’s about to embark on his own deception as he tells a flirty Karen that his name is Jordan, and agrees to go for a drink.

That’s not the only time he uses a fake identity, as he once again poses as Jordan to get an interview with Caleb. The criminal sees straight through the ruse. Despite this, Lucas still agrees to go through with Chelsea’s drug smuggling job.

However, he wants his scheming daughter to do something for him in return. Elsewhere, Martin says he will do anything to help Ruby deal with her grief – and what she really wants is for him to report Stacey to the police. Janet is invited to an audition for an advert, and Billy and Jay can’t agree who should take her. Unfortunately, their bickering leads to a breakdown in communication, and no one goes to pick her up. When Jay and Billy realise their mistake, they rush to the venue – and find the place is empty.

Kim continues with her matchmaking efforts as she tries to push Ash and Peter together. Bobby decides to try a dating app instead, but is he really ready for romance?

Leanne realises it’s time she stepped up to get drug dealer Harvey (Will Mellor) off Simon’s back, but matters take a more serious turn when Kelly collapses after taking one of the lad’s pills.

When Peter fails to show up for his shift, Steve goes round to No1 and finds him slurring his words and stumbling around. So, he jumps to the conclusion that Peter has been drinking again.

Steve leaves in disgust, but is later forced to eat his words when, after Peter is admitted to hospital, it’s revealed his behaviour was caused by toxins in his system. Ken is horrified that his son was left to struggle alone and, in his anger, threatens to throw Steve and Tracy out.

Elsewhere, Carla receives a tempting offer from Lucas, who wants her to make a fresh start with him in Devon. Asha is devastated when Nina says she wants to go back to being just friends, and Alina’s crush on Tyrone grows ever more serious.
