Jurgen has plunged to new low as Reds slump

LIVERPOOL...0 FULHAM .........

- DAVID MADDOCK

JURGEN KLOPP admits he has hit the lowest point of his career with Liverpool now facing “an extreme situation”.

The Premier League champs lost their sixth straight home match as Mario Lemina’s goal secured victory for 18th-placed Fulham.

It is Liverpool’s worst run in the club’s history.

Asked if it was one of the lowest points in his reign, boss Klopp said: “I would wish to say no but yes it is.

“That’s not a problem. I don’t always have to have the best times. This team is an extreme team.

“We were extremely successful and now we have an extreme situation but we will fight through.”

Pool are four points off a top-four place but have played one more game than fourth-placed Chelsea and two more than Everton and West Ham in fifth and sixth.

Asked about the prospect of a Champions League spot for next season, Klopp said: “It’s really not my concern at the moment. We cannot think about that. We have to win football games. We have to win one football game, that would be helpful at the moment.”

He dismissed claims there is a lack of desire in his side right now, adding: “My boys wanted it. Believe me, they want to win games. I see how much it hurts.

“It’s easy to judge it that way as Fulham won, so you say they wanted it more.

“But I don’t think that’s the problem. I don’t have to stand here and say we’re fighting for this or that.”

Fulham notched just a second ever win at Anfield and midfielder Harrison Reed said: “We did want it more – that was evident on the pitch from the first whistle and a big factor in getting three points. We came here with confidence.”
