MAN OF THE MATCH

-

BENJAMIN SIEGRIST

Celebrated his 100th outing for the Terrors in some style. Celtic may have been guilty of weak finishing at times but the Swiss was equal to anything that did hit the target. With Celtic plagued by keeper issues all season, they could do worse than look to Siegrist as a solution.

‘The record books now read 55. It’s the earliest the title has been won because we’ve had so many games this season’ controversy and his claim on Friday that Celtic fans aren’t gutted at losing the title sparked a backlash.

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “It’s comical to hear Gordon say he and his fellow Celtic fans aren’t gutted by Rangers winning the league. He told us 10 in a row will be the holy grail and greatest ever football achievement and Rangers supporters’ worst nightmare. The demonstrations and protests confirm that Celtic supporters are totally sick and disgusted.”

James Smith, Falkirk, said: “I nearly spilled my coffee when I read Gordon say ‘Celtic fans aren’t gutted’. Who’s he trying to kid? You’re gutted alright but just won’t admit it. Rangers were far superior this season to almost everyone and Celtic were rotten domestically and in Europe – and I don’t support either team.”

Right on cue, Gordon Ashley, Ayr, hit back with a guard of honour suggestion.

He said: “If Rangers clap us on at Parkhead in honour of our double nine in a row, quadruple Treble and world’s first and only invincible Treble, we will clap them on as champions at Ibrox, with both clubs then joining together to applaud the NHS.”

Sticking with Celtic and furious Hoops fan David Bryce, Troon, said: “What else can be said about this Celtic side? They are an absolute disgrace and none of them should survive this. The first season they get a real challenge they fold like a deck of cards.

“McGregor, Turnbull, Christie, Edouard, Brown are all a disgrace to the jersey and if the board thought John Kennedy would improve things they are even more hapless than I imagined!”

John Bruce emailed: “With David Moyes, Steve Clarke and Paul Lambert all distancing themselves from the job and Rafa Benitez touted as favourite to return to Napoli, the list of managers keen on the hot seat appears to be getting smaller by the week.”
