JUST THE BEGINNING Park

DOUGLAS PARK lauded Rangers’ title win and declared the newly-crowned champions are just getting started.

The Ibrox chief addressed fans yesterday after Steven Gerrard’s side delivered a first Premiership crown since 2011.

Park, who took over from Dave King as chairman in 2020, hailed the triumph and vowed there’s more to come.

He said: “It’s unbelievable. They have achieved 55 and won the league and I couldn’t be more happy for the club, the supporters and everyone.

“It’s absolutely fantastic. It’s been a hard road getting there but we have got there and we want this to be the start of many.

“It was worth it. The time and the effort, it was worth it. We started off on a journey, we started to come through it – it’s the first title and we’ve got where we want to be. Now we need to try to do our best to make sure there are many more.”

Park also paid special tribute to Gerrard for delivering ‘55’ and insists he’s the man responsible for restoring standards.

He said: “Steven has done a magnificent job and has brought standards back to the club, inside and outside.”

Deputy chairman John Bennett revealed he knew in his heart the title would return to Rangers when it mattered most.

He said: “It’s everything to the chairman’s family, to my family and every Rangers family across the land and every other land. We’ll find them everywhere.

“This is for the Rangers family. This means everything to me. I know how Douglas’ family are right now and I know how the players are right now.

“This is a milestone – a major milestone that we all craved and we did it, we achieved it.

“We knew in our hearts we would achieve this – we spoke about it at the AGM and we knew where we were going but we are Rangers – this is Glasgow Rangers.

“You don’t even need to say any more than that and you keep going, you keep winning.”
