There will be no Tav measures

- BY KEITH JACKSON

JAMES TAVERNIER has warned the rest of the Scottish game that relentless Rangers won’t ease up now the title has been secured.

Tavernier was leading the celebrations at the club’s Auchenhowie HQ after Celtic’s slip at Tannadice secured the Ibrox club a first top-flight crown in 10 years.

The skipper insisted Rangers will now target more domestic silverware from the Scottish Cup and Europa League last-16 glory against Slavia Prague.

He told Rangers TV: “We’ve got to soak up today and really enjoy this moment but we’ve still got some really important games, one on Thursday.

“We’ve got two legs to try to get into the next round and we’ve got possibilities of doing that if we apply ourselves right.

“Then also we have a cup to play in.

“We are not going to take the foot off the gas because we have won it now. We want to finish this season off strong and really put down a marker.”

Tavernier has often been made the fall guy as Rangers struggled to compete against Celtic.

He said: “All the criticism I received over five years... but people stuck by me, my family stuck by me and it’s really helped us push.

“When I first came here, I wanted to put the club where it belonged. We’ve finally brought 55 home.”

Rangers chairman Douglas Park told Rangers TV: “Absolutely unbelievable. We’ve achieved 55.

“I couldn’t be more happy for the club, the supporters and everyone.

“It’s been a hard, hard road but we want this to be the start of many.”
