Three’s a crowd we can lead

-

SCOTT MARTIN claims the goal for survival specialists Hamilton is to finish top of the bottom three.

Accies climbed off the foot of the table with a deserved point on their travels to Aberdeen.

The midfielder is now looking to keep the revival going by leapfrogging a Ross County outfit three points ahead of them and out of the play-off spot.

Martin said: “Mentally, it has given us all a lift.

“We aren’t disappointed but maybe we could’ve won it at the end. We are off the bottom of the table and we need to keep looking up.

“It will come down to ourselves, Kilmarnock and Ross County. Motherwell aren’t safe but it will come down to the other three.

“We want to finish as high as we can because we can’t keep looking behind us.

“We need to get wins and to get as high up the table as we can. The way we are playing, I can’t see us not clicking. I’m quite confident.”

Hamilton, with just one defeat in six games, could have left Pittodrie with a win if they’d got a penalty when Martin’s shot hit Andrew Considine’s arm.

The Accies player said: “I thought it was a handball.

“I have not seen it back but my first reaction was to claim the penalty.”

Accies head to Livingston on Saturday to play their game in hand and Martin knows it could be a major step towards survival.

The 23-year-old said: “We want to win every game.

“We saw at Pittodrie we are trying to have a go.

“We don’t relish it because we don’t like the position we are in.

“You want to be as high up the table as you can.

“It sounds weird but it is a Hamilton-type spirit. When our backs are up against the wall, we just seem to turn up.

“I don’t know what it is but hopefully it is the same this season.”
