Stalker plants car tracker on his ex 10 YEARS after they broke up

CREEP POSED AS WOMAN TO SPLIT UP COUPLE Former special PC rumbled in sting op

- BY GORDON CURRIE

A STALKER attached a tracking device to his former lover’s car so he could follow her more than a decade after she ended their relationship.

Former special constable Abdul Salam, 37, set up an elaborate ruse to try to convince Razia Azhar’s husband that she was cheating on him.

He posed as a woman called “Samantha” and reported Razia’s movements to her husband in a bid to convince him his wife was having an affair.

But the couple set up a sting operation to out Salam and that led to an angry confrontation involving police and the discovery of the secret tracking device.

Salam – whose two-year relationship with his victim ended in 2008 – pled guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to stalking Razia for more than two months. He admitted that between April 1 and June 7, 2019, he engaged in a course of stalking.

He followed her, placed a tracking device on her car, pretended to her husband she was having an affair, took a photo of her car and sent it to him and verbally harassed her.

The couple hatched a plot to trap Salam and Razia sent a text to “Samantha” in order to lure him into meeting them in a public place.

Fiscal depute Stewart Duncan told the court: “Mobeen Azhar got out of the car and confronted the accused and they began pushing each other.” The fracas took place in view of a police HQ and a detective rushed out to intervene. Salam tried to flee but the officer detained him. Mr Duncan added: “Mrs Azhar approached the officer and said she could see an item which she thought was a tracking device which had been cable tied to her front wheel.”

Solicitor Larry Flynn, defending, said: “He is under no illusion and takes the matter seriously.”

Sheriff Lorna Drummond deferred sentence for reports and said: “Putting a tracking device on a vehicle is a serious matter.”

LIKE many of us, Jess Wright has suffered her fair share of disappointments during the pandemic.

As well as losing several work projects, the former TOWIE cast member got engaged to fiance William Lee-Kemp last February and doesn’t yet know when her big day will be.

Jess, 35, is hoping the wedding will happen this year but admitted: “It’s all up in the air but we’re hoping for it to happen this year. “When it does happen, it’s going to be the most amazing day, when we can finally hug and be together again.

“I feel bad for all the brides going through this at the minute – being a Covid bride has not been fun.”

Not all couples have survived being in lockdown together. Happily for Jess and William, an audio visual company business owner who is good pals with her younger brother Mark, it has made them stronger. She said: “I was looking through images of 2019 and I got to 2020 and there was such a difference in our relationship, in terms of the things we could do together.

“However, we survived it and we’re even stronger now, so if anything, it was just a good test.”

Jess has seen the devastating effects of coronavirus after her parents and grandparents contracted the illness over Christmas. All four have now made a full recovery.

Sadly, shortly after this chat, Jess posted a moving tribute on Instagram to her uncle Eddie, who died after battling Covid for eight weeks.

The current lockdown has left Jess struggling but with spring on its way, she is being positive.

She said: “I think this has been the hardest one for everyone but there’s light at the end of the tunnel now.”

With the stress of the last year, it’s no wonder Jess’s skin has been hit by the pandemic.

She admitted: “I suffer with psoriasis, and I’ve noticed it’s got considerably worse.

“I think that’s just a delayed response to all the stress with Covid, the pandemic and the wedding and all that.”

She’s also liking how she looks wearing less make-up.

“For weeks, I don’t wear make-up,” she said, “and then when I have my make-up done, I’m like, ‘Wow, it looks so good!’ It’s made me feel like I’ll wear less in the future. I go anywhere now without any make-up on and don’t even think twice.

“I have no qualms going anywhere. But obviously not a red carpet.”
