Charles chuckles at Press questions
ASKED yesterday about Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Charles could only let out a nervous chuckle.
The Prince of Wales was questioned by reporters as he made his first public appearance since the Sussexes’ claim a member of the Royal Family asked a racist question about their son was aired on television.
At the end of a visit to an NHS pop-up vaccine clinic in a North West London church popular with the capital’s black community, a member of the press asked: “Sir, what did you think of the interview?”
Clearly taken aback, Charles turned to look at the reporter as he left the building, said “Oh,” and gave a nervous chuckle before simply carrying on walking. Sources close to the Prince say
he is “deeply concerned” at allegations laid out by his son and daughter-in-law.
The most damaging accusation was that a member of the Royal Family — known not to be the Queen or Prince Philip — asked what colour skin the couple’s then-unborn son would have.
A source said: “It goes against everything the Prince of Wales believes in. He believes diversity is the strength of our society.”
Charles wore a face mask as he toured a clinic at Jesus House, Brent Cross, to witness coronavirus vaccinations being carried out.
The heir, 72, chatted to healthcare worker Caroline Oladimeji and asked where she came from.
She said: “Nigeria, though I have been in this country a long time.”
Charles replied to her: “Oh fantastic, yes, I’ve been there. “Lots of different ethnic groups. “Do give them my kind regards next time you speak to them.”
