Joe Sugg to edit Beano for its 70th

- BY LAURA HARDING

JOE Sugg will guest-edit a special Beano comic to celebrate 70 years of one of its best-loved characters, Dennis The Menace.

The special issue, which celebrates 70 years since Dennis first appeared in Beano on March 17. 1951, will feature the YouTuber and former Strictly Come Dancing star in his own comic strip.

Also featured will be his girlfriend and dance partner Dianne Buswell, Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood and other friends and family.

Lifelong Beano fan Joe said: “I grew up with Dennis, reading Beano each week, and I can’t wait for readers to see all the fun, pranks, and surprises we’ve worked into the special issue. This really is a dream project for me.”

PIERS Morgan storming out on ITV’s Good Morning Britain was the sort of behaviour we have come to expect from a broadcaster who can’t take criticism but freely dishes it out.

The man who thinks a big debate is anything over Twitter’s 140 characters is now portraying himself as a martyr to free speech.

He quoted wartime prime minister Sir Winston Churchill by saying: “Some people’s idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they like but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage.”

How ironic given Morgan threw a hissy fit and walked out of his job when his colleague, weather presenter Alex Beresford, dared disagree with his relentless persecution of Meghan Markle.

Morgan sat there like a giant toddler, lips pursed in constipated anger, as Beresford kept his cool to eloquently eviscerate him.

The TV host – who ridicules others for being “snowflakes” – had to admit that is exactly what he is.

Morgan – a narcissist and sycophant to the stars – holds a grudge against Meghan because she once snubbed him.

This week’s petulance wasn’t about the principle of free speech.

It was all about notoriety, so he can find a new job as a “shock jock” with some other news channel.

Morgan said he is off to spend more time with his opinions – a welcome respite for the rest of us. MEGHAN COMPLAINT TO ITV – PAGES 10&11

PEOPLE are being warned to watch out for a text scam in which criminals pose as the Royal Mail in a bid to steal financial details.

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute said text message says a parcel is awaiting delivery but a “settlement” must be paid.

The message links to a fraudulent site posing as a Royal Mail page and asks for payment details, which could be used by scammers for further fraud.
