WHEN YOU CAN’T VISIT

-

IF A face-to-face visit is out of the question, plan some other activities to make Sunday special.

There is still time to post home-made cards and artwork or get some new photos of the family printed up. Even the most digital-savvy granny will appreciate actual shiny prints of her grandchildren to see how much they’ve grown.

Instead of just sending a card, or scribbling a note to go with the photos, why not write an actual letter? It’s almost a forgotten art but it’s an easy and cheap way to bring some joy into a lonely and isolated person’s life.

If she has the hang of online music, make her a playlist. Include the songs you listened to in the car as kids, or that you all sang together.

The deadline for ordering most special meals has passed but it’s still possible to send flowers, chocolates and bottles of fizz. For a gift that lasts beyond Tuesday, consider a subscription to a book service or a plant club that delivers a new cactus or fern once a month.

Mass Zoom calls and family quizzes have fallen from favour as lockdown grinds on but this Sunday could be the time to revive these. Or watch a film together and gossip in the chat box.

A TOURIST attraction boss wants the historic stone circle at Stonehenge to be “returned” to Wales.

Farm park owner Lyn Jenkins says it should be “reclaimed”.

Experts believe the bluestones originated from the Preseli Hills in Wales and were taken to Salisbury Plain about 5000 years ago.
