Lee’s set for animal kingdom

-

LEE McGREGOR intends to show he is a “different animal” in his European bantamweight bust-up with Karim Guerfi.

The Commonwealth and British champion is eyeing up the Frenchman’s belt, with the pair to meet in Bolton a week tomorrow.

McGregor stopped Ryan Walker in August in his only fight since beating Kash Farooq in November 2019.

His latest bout is set to go ahead at the fourth attempt and he said: “Since that fight (against Farooq) you’ve got the same guy with the same heart and same hunger but a lot better now and just a different animal.” BASKETBALL: Playercoach Gareth Murray hailed Rocks for regaining some pride despite exiting the BBL Trophy.

A 108-89 semi-final defeat to London Lions sealed a 198-155 aggregate thrashing for Glasgow.

But Murray said: “This was more about us.

“It was always going to be tough after the first leg but we took good shots and shared the ball well. It was a chance for some guys to gain confidence without any real pressure.” SNOOKER: Ali Carter and fellow Englishman Mark Davis are into phase two of the World Snooker Tour Pro Series after making it out of an eight-man group.

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER reckons he will convince Edinson Cavani to stay when the weather in Manchester improves.

The Uruguayan’s father has cast doubt on his son’s Manchester United future, claiming he wants to be closer to his family.

But boss Solskjaer said: “Edinson is fully focused on being available for us and working really hard to get fit. He is very proud to play for Manchester United.

“We will convince him to stay when the weather in Manchester improves!

“I can’t comment on what has been said, I can only say that we’re very pleased with Edinson.

“Day in, day out, he’s proving his personality and his professionalism.

“We knew he wouldn’t be able to play every game, because he’d been out before for so long. So now let’s make sure he plays as much football as possible until the end of the season, scores as many goals as he can and helps the young players, the strikers, with his mentality.

“Then he will make his decision. He knows we’re very fond of what he has given to the club, even though he has played fewer games than he probably wanted to.”
