QUOTE OF THE DAY

-

‘Show us your medals, Craig...oh, sorry, he has none. Time to ride off into the night with his admirable collection of P45s’ they have done? Other than pour drinks out of windows to them?”

Jim Docherty emailed: “It saddens me to see the headlines from both Rangers and Celtic regarding fans behaviour during lockdown. Celtic’s fans broke the rules on a few occasions when they paraded themselves at Parkhead recently, so they have no right to condemn Rangers fans for their actions.

“We would have done the same thing in their shoes, so get a life. The board is also wrong. Let’s put it to bed and get on with recruitment.”

Patrick Cunningham, Denny, said: “We all remember our first kiss, our first car and for some our child’s first steps, so it’s no surprise the over the top celebrating of Rangers fans on their club’s first title. My only gripe is their inflated optimism on winning another 54, can’t they be more realistic and sing ‘Here we go for 2 in a row’ than 55’? That’s just silly.”

Harry Fitzpatrick, Ontario, emailed: “Isn’t it strange now the Covid 5 have been charged and will appear on March 25. Why so long? So Tavernier will be fit then and they can do without Patterson?”

On to Levein, and George Fairgrieve, Edinburgh, emailed: “So he wants Nicola Sturgeon to resign. Did he resign from the Scotland job when he was dragging us down or from his Hearts post when they were at rock bottom?, No, he hung on, as he did with Leicester until he was emptied. Show us your medals Craig...oh, sorry, he has none. Time to ride off into the night with his admirable collection of P45s.”

Finally, Alan McPherson, Moray emailed: “With regards to the managerial vacancy at my beloved Aberdeen, all the names quoted just don’t float my boat. Derek McInnes will be a hard act to follow. The temporary team of Sheerin, Robson and Simpson could well provide the surprise solution.”

SLAVIA PRAGUE 1 RANGERS 2 DAVID MCCARTHY

There have been some thrilling European encounters this season and this won’t be any different, with two attack-minded teams going for it. Gerrard’s men have been outstanding on the road and can snatch the goals that will put them in the driving seat. SLAVIA PRAGUE 2 RANGERS 2

Slavia are planning a repeat of the game-plan which sent Leicester spinning out of the Europa League. That means keeping it tight in the first-leg and not conceding – before sucking Rangers in at Ibrox. Gers can nick a goal in Prague to set up return. SLAVIA PRAGUE 1 RANGERS 1

CRAIG SWAN KEITH JACKSON

Rangers have looked sensational on their travels this season and there’s no reason to suspect any different in Prague. A score draw would represent a terrific first-leg result but Steven Gerrad and his players could very well go one better.

SCOTT MCDERMOTT

Rangers’ ability to score on their travels is key and can ensure they get a positive result in the Czech Republic to take back to Ibrox. A scoring draw looks within reach. SLAVIA PRAGUE 1 RANGERS 1

Slavia are running away with the Czech title and are scoring for fun. It will take a monumental performance but with confidence surging right through this Rangers side they can produce enough to take a very handy score draw back to Ibrox.

SLAVIA PRAGUE 1 RANGERS 1 GABRIEL MCKAY

Slavia were rock solid at the back in the first half of the season but they’ve been leaky of late and Rangers can be confident of getting a crucial away goal. The Czechs are formidable at home though – they haven’t lost on their own patch since November 2019.

SKIPPER James Tavernier (knee) is still out for Rangers along with long-term victim Nikola Katic (knee), the suspended Leon Balogun and ineligible Jermain Defoe.

Ryan Jack won’t be risked but Kemar Roofe does return from a calf complaint. The former Leeds striker and midfielder Glen Kamara are just one yellow card away from a suspension.

Slavia forward Stanislav Tecl has recovered from the injury that kept him out of their tie with Leicester and is now in contention. But David Hovorka, Michal Beran, Petr Sevcik and Ibrahim Traore are set to miss out.
