fight and determination is as high as it’s ever been, so I’ll be giving it my all.”

The season is due to open at Thruxton, in Hampshire, on May 8, and old team-mate Matt Neal added: “It’s great to have Flash back in the car, he knows the team and the way we work.”

Meanwhile, fellow Scot Paul Di Resta has said he is delighted to be able to defend his Le Mans 24 Hours title with United Autosports.

The F1 turned endurance specialist will return to the team after a record-breaking season in 2020 where, alongside Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque, he won the LMP2 class in nailbiting fashion.

Di Resta was a crucial part of the outfit’s World Endurance Championship winning effort, scoring four wins, five podiums and four pole positions throughout the 2019/2020 season.

The 34-year-old, from West Lothian, will be part of a new crew for this year.

He said: “It’s great to announce that we are going back to the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours. LMP2 looks very strong once again and Le Mans is the best race in the world to get to grips with, so it can’t come soon enough.”

And Glasgow-born Ryan Dalziel will be competing on board a similar LMP2 Oreca 07 in the Pro/ Am category with IDEC Sport.

Dalziel, who mostly races in the USA, said: “I’m so excited to be going back to Le Mans 24 for my sixth time.”

The famous Le Mans encounter is due to take place on August 21 and 22.

Before that, Dumfriesshire’s Ross Wylie is set to get behind the wheel of the stunning Brabham BT62 in the GT Cup.

He is partnering Paul Bailey in the SBR Racing team in the GTO class, with the season kicking off at Donington Park, near Derby, on April 10.

And Lockerbie teenager Gordie Mutch has won a seat in a Praga R1 alongside experienced driver Abbie Eaton for the Britcar Endurance Championship.

The opportunity has come about thanks to Romain Grosjean after Mutch starred in the former F1 ace’s R8G esports team.
