I love mucking about outside and eating

- Jules Hudson

FRIDAYS most recently involved homeschooling from 9am. My son Jack and I have been ploughing through whatever’s been set by his school.

By the afternoon, he’s had enough. We’re fortunate to live in the country, so we’ll head outside and get some fresh air.

We’re all keen gardeners – we love making things. Jack will run around and make and invent things, or we’ll fix fences in the garden. Usually it’s a very easy family supper, something like a curry.

Saturdays usually involve being outdoors and gardening. I recently had a mini digger come in to get rid of some tree stumps. I love getting on the machine and working away.

We like to have a project on at the weekend, such as planting or mowing. In the evening, we’ll have another sit-down family dinner, something like a casserole bubbling away while we’re out and about. Then we’ll watch a film and roll into Sunday.

Sunday morning is all about a big fry-up breakfast. We have some great local farm shops that sell top-end but affordable produce.

After that, we continue with what we’ve started on the previous day. If the weather’s not good, we’ll stay indoors and do something.

About 3pm, we all come together and put a movie on with Jack. In the early evening, we’ll have a roast dinner, sometimes sausages with the roast trimmings, which is quick and easy to do.

After that, it’s sofa time, usually surrounded by our two labradors and we start thinking about the week ahead.

This Week On The Farm is on Thursdays at 8pm on Channel 5. The Escape To The Country Handbook (National Trust Books, £16.99) is available at juleshudson.com
