Adorable pets died in agony on day of purchase

- BY MARK McGIVERN

RECORD readers have been horrified by stories of pups dying after being sold by Irish traders.

One woman, Mal Bujko, 38, bought a Border collie and called it Karma but she died just hours after Mal brought her home.

Karma is believed to have been just five or six weeks old when she was bought for £1000 after her breeder, described as being from Paisley, shared an advert on Gumtree.

The pup smelled badly and passed blood on the floor.

Vaccination papers were not handed over and the seller disappeared before turning off their mobile phone.

Mal, from Kilwinning in Ayrshire, said she was sure she was a victim of a puppy farm ring.

She said: “These people just seem to disappear and nothing can touch them. They should be charged with cruelty offences.

“But I would warn anyone else looking to buy a pet on Gumtree to be very careful, as I would not wish anyone else to go through what happened to my family.” Another pup that died after being bought from Gumtree is thought to be a sibling of Karma.

Named Keiko, the border collie was plagued by roundworms and was also passing blood before being put to sleep. Keiko’s owner said: “We got a bad feeling about the way the woman handled the puppies.”

Richard Gray, 27, was duped by puppy farmers and saw his border collie pup die hours after receiving it.

Both buyers believe the same woman sold them the diseased pups, which were clearly suffering when they were handed over.

Richard paid £1000 for a puppy and made an attachment immediately, calling it Bear. The pup was intended to be a 10th birthday present for his daughter.

But he watched in horror as it died in his arms just six hours after he bought it.

And the heartbroken dad told how his family’s beloved Border collie pup began excreting blood and worms before losing her fight for life.
