Intruder targets royals’ mansion twice

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN

HARRY and Meghan’s multi-million dollar security was breached twice by an intruder said to have driven 2400 miles to sneak into their luxury Californian base.

Nickolas Brooks was caught trespassing at the £11million Montecito home near Los Angeles on Christmas Eve. Police attended and let the 37-year-old off with a warning. However, two days later he returned and was arrested by police.

According to reports in the US, Brooks had driven from his home in Ohio, in the Midwest, but it is unclear what he wanted from Harry and Meghan.

He has been charged with one count of misdemeanour trespassing. The incident could explain why Harry and Meghan spent some of their interview with Oprah Winfrey talking about their security. The Duke said Buckingham Palace withdrew their bodyguards when they quit as senior royals and moved to the US.

He also said he and Meghan only signed deals with Netflix and Spotify because they needed money to cover their own security after being “cut off financially”.
