Google-eyed sleeping aid

Nest Hub monitors shuteye and tells if you’ve had a decent kip

-

IF YOU’RE not getting enough beauty sleep then Google may have dreamed up the solution.

The tech giant’s all-screen Nest Hub may look similar to its predecessor but this new device has a clever, sleep-sensing trick up its sleeve.

Tucked inside its case is a unique radar technology that can check how your body is coping when you’ve hopped under the sheets.

As soon as your eyes close, the Nest Hub sets about monitoring you.

It watches your breathing, movement and even how much you cough and snore.

There are also regular checks on how light and warm the room is – both factors in getting a good night’s rest.

Once you have woken from your slumber, you will get a full report on how well you’re sleeping and recommendations on how to make things better. But before you freak out about Google watching you at night, it’s worth knowing that there is no camera inside the Nest Hub and all personal data is stored on the device itself with nothing sent to the cloud.

Along with tracking sleep, this device has also been designed to help you drop off, with its screen able to dim automatically and relaxing sounds played quietly from its in-built speaker.

Once it’s time to get up, the Nest Hub’s Sunrise Alarm gradually brightens the display and increases the alarm volume.

There’s also clever motion sense tech that allows users to raise their hand near the screen to snooze the alarm for a few minutes.

Of course, this is a smart speaker so there are plenty more tricks inside – with everything powered by Google’s helpful assistant.

That means you can ask it pretty much any question and expect to get a useful response.

The screen will also show information such as news and weather reports, plus you can link it to your Google Photos account in order to use it as a digital photo frame.

Another nice bonus is that the Nest Hub is fully compatible with a number of streaming services including Disney+, YouTube and Netflix – although watching shows on the small seven-inch screen might not be for everyone.

The new Nest Hub costs £89.99 and is available for pre-order from today in chalk, charcoal, sand and mist designs.
