Barrowman can’t mask airport fury
TORCHWOOD star John Barrowman hit out on Instagram over underwhelming mask enforcement in an airport lounge.
The Glasgow-born star was flying from Heathrow Airport near London to his home in California after appearing as a judge on Dancing On Ice.
But John, 54, was appalled by the lack of mask enforcement in a lounge used by Virgin Atlantic customers.
He made a video, saying: “I’m in the Premium Plaza lounge that you are using for your customers in terminal two, Heathrow and, just so you know, mask enforcement is not being done in here.
“I was told people are allowed to sit and not wear a mask. That’s not right.”
He added: “They are not eating, just sitting or talking on the phone. No one enforcing it.
“I took my test and am following the rules. So should they. Why are you sending us there if it’s not being enforced? So I left…”
John was heading back to the home he shares in Palm Springs with his husband Scott Gill.
Before leaving Britain, he had the second of his AstraZeneca Covid jags in Wales.
He told how while there, he met a nurse called Trisha from Wishaw, Lanarkshire, as he had his injection in Port Talbot.
In response to the mask issue, Virgin Atlantic said: “We’d like to thank Mr Barrowman for making us aware of his experience.
“We have a zero tolerance policy on non-mask wearing and we will be addressing his issues as a priority.”
Heathrow Airport said: “The wearing of face coverings inside the airport was a mandated requirement before Government made it policy.”
