RANGERS HOW THEY RATED

- 8 BY GORDON PARKS

AllAN McGREGOR .......

LEFT exposed and with no chance at Elyounoussi’s close-range header. Blocked McGregor’s shot with his foot moments later and lightning reactions to keep out a trio of Edouard’s efforts. Another immense display and the difference between a draw and defeat for his side. lEON BAlOGUN ........... 4 WEAK link on Rangers right and targeted by Celtic after being a surprise starter at right-back. Never carried any cut and thrust going forward, failed to eliminate Edouard cross for Hoops opener. One positive was playing a crucial part in the leveller nodding on Barasic’s corner. No shock when subbed in 56th minute.

CONNOR GOlDSON ......

5 DRAGGED all over the backline by Elyounoussi and part of a dodgy double act with Helander on what was an off day. Much of his work was last-ditch and all too desperate and was slow to react to danger. Steadied after the interval but not a display to remember.

FIlIP HElANDER ........

5 CHARGED with keeping the shackles on Edouard and endured a few ropey early moments with careless distribution and it didn’t get better as he allowed Edouard cross to find Elyounoussi at Celtic’s opener. Let off the hook by the brilliance of his keeper as Celtic were gifted chances galore.

BORNA BARISIC ............. 6 KEPT Kenny pushed back by advancing on the left and quality of delivery on show as he fired over a cross for Morelos chance in 22nd minute. Extremely fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty with a crude lunge on Edouard just before the halfhour mark.

GlEN KAMARA..6

ALERT to sweep ball clear from off his goalline and charged with keeping a check on McGregor’s forward runs as he operated in a deep midfield role. Failed to impact game as he can but can be excused after an emotionally draining last few days.

STEVEN DAVIS

.7 WENT toe to toe with Brown as the tempo-setter for his side and brought trademark calmness and intelligence to midfield. Tidy in all his work and crucial interception inside the box to deny Edouard. Steady and no frills as he recycled ball with simple efficiency.

JOE ARIBO ......... 6 SLACK with several first-half passes but influence grew as game progressed. Full of industry and attacking intent as he worked all across the midfield as he always went in search of the ball and hunted down Celtic when the home side were in possession.

IANIS HAGI ........ 5 A PERIPHERAL figure. Failed to get a grip of the ball and provide a creative spark. Lightweight and too easily brushed off out of possession. Capable of so much more and needs to 8

McGREGOR

show it if he’s to cement a starting spot. Little surprise to see him replaced by Arfield.

AlFREDO MORElOS ..........

7 GIVEN a more than decent glimpse of goal early on but header lacked power and direction. But made no mistake nodding in equaliser for first Old Firm goal in 15 attempts. Happy to weigh in with defensive duties as he finally made his mark in this fixture. Booked.

RYAN KENT .......

DEPLOYED in a free role across the front as he drifted in from the left to central positions to drag his markers about. Denied by Bain after stunning volley. Threatened on numerous occasions to get in behind Celtic’s backline but not provided with nearly enough service to get one on one with Hoops defenders.

SUBS: NATHAN PATTERSON ......

7 4

REPLACED Balagun 10 minutes after break and plugged gap in behind the right flank. Steadied the ship. SCOTT ARFIElD . 4 ON for Hagi just after hour mark. Added industry and drive from midfield to help Rangers regain a share of the ball. SCOTT WRIGHT . 3 GIVEN the last 15 minutes for Aribo and produced several darting runs at the heart of the Celtic backline. KEMAR ROOFE ........... 3 LED the line for closing stages but not given a sniff at goal.
