LUCA CONNELL cannot wait to deliver success for Queen’s Park this season following his loan move from Celtic.

Connell, 19, produced a man-of-the-match performance on his debut.

Ray McKinnon’s side kept up their charge to the title with a 3-0 win over Stranraer in what was likely their last match at Hampden.

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 midfielder said: “I’m ecstatic to have made my debut. Chipping in with an assist was great but it is amazing just to be out there playing again.”

Connell assisted Lee Kilday for the Spiders’ second goal with a sumptuous delivery.

He said: “I’ve only had a short time with the lads since I joined but the coaches were telling me the areas they were looking for my deliveries to be played into.

“Luckily Lee was in there and finished it with such a great header.

“It was a great ball met by an even better finish.”

Michael Doyle headed their first and Bob McHugh hit No.3 from the penalty spot in the 65th minute after David Galt was fouled.

Supersub Kieran Moore fired Stirling Albion up to second spot thanks to a 1-0 home victory over bottom club Brechin.

Moore grabbed the only goal of the game with an hour played when he slid in at the back post to bury Andy Ryan’s cross just five minutes after coming on.

Gary Naysmith made a winning start to life as Edinburgh City boss with a 2-1 triumph at Elgin.

They got off to a flier when Josh Campbell tapped in after good work from Ouzy See three minutes in.

Robbie McIntyre buried Craig Thomson’s free-kick to double the Citizens’ lead nine minutes later, with Josh Peters pulling one back for Elgin.

Stenhousemuir kept alive their play-off hopes as they beat Albion 2-0.

Botti Biabi put the Warriors ahead early on when he headed in Tommy Muir’s cross and Mark McGuigan capitalised on a defensive mix-up to double Stenny’s lead 20 seconds into the second half.

The 10 men of Annan held on for a point in a goalless draw at home to Cowdenbeath after Nathan Flanagan was sent off with 20 minutes to go.
