SEX & THE CITY

- BY RICK FULTON

FANS were furious when it was revealed Kim Cattrall wouldn’t be returning for the Sex and the City reboot. Her character Samantha Jones had added the sexy spice to the series which ran for six seasons from 1998 until 2003 and two films.

But Sarah Jessica Parker, who played lead star Carrie Bradshaw, has suggested there could still be a fourth actress to join her, Kristen Davis, who played Charlotte York and Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes.

Sarah, 55, said: “It’s very possible that a great actress will join us and she will have a huge impact and we’ll want to be with her more, the audience will want to see her more…”

Some fans will find it hard to watch the series without the feisty Samantha but Kim ruled out a return to the show four years ago.

That leaves a space for a younger actress.

This will be up to director, writer and producer Michael Patrick King, who is currently working out how these culture queens will fit into the 2020s.

The show’s designer Patricia Field paid only $5 in a second hand shop for the famous tutu dress in the show’s opening credits. But by the time Carrie was to marry Mr Big, Vivienne Westwood was designing the dress.

Sarah said: “In the beginning, we had a very tiny budget. Nobody would loan us anything. We couldn’t get a bag, we couldn’t get a flip-flop.”

In the original run, the show was filmed in two episode blocks.

And Carrie’s feverish love of shoes and fashion meant the character would be wearing 20/30 costumes per two episodes – it gave designers a window to promote everything from designer clothes to the smallest trinket accessory.

Sarah said: “I would try on anything, no matter how ridiculous.

“I mean, we’d be doubled over laughing sometime because so much of the stuff was from thrift stores and vintage shops and pulled from the most peculiar and outrageous spots.

“Like the bird in the veil, ‘Why do you have to have a bird in your hair?’ And I’d be like, ‘Just trust me on this’. A perfect example is the dress in Paris (the
