Break-in the boundaries

Channel 5, 9pm

-

THIS gripping four-night thriller starts with a frantic emergency call to the police.

It’s a woman and she sounds confused. There’s an intruder in her house – he may or may not still be there. He tried to stab her husband.

Flashback to earlier and a group of friends are enjoying a dinner party at the luxurious coastal home of highflying married couple Rebecca (Elaine Cassidy) and Sam (Tom Meeten).

Two local teenagers, Tommy and Syed, are watching the house, planning a break-in once everyone is asleep.

What follows is a very long, tense opening sequence as the teens gain access and Sam, in a mad paranoid rage, stabs one of them to death with a knife.

It wasn’t self-defence, he wasn’t being attacked… it was murder. Along with their friend and guest Angela (Helen Behan), Sam and Rebecca stage the scene to look like Syed attacked them.

But will the police believe their story as they head down a dangerous path of corruption?

What they are not banking on is one member of the investigation who may be their undoing.

Family liaison officer Karen Bailey, played by Sally Lindsay, meets the father of the dead teenager and starts doing her own investigations.

Meanwhile, Angela proves to be an alcoholic loose cannon who may reveal the truth about what really happened, and the case also links to a sinister side of the idyllic town.

As the four episodes unfold this week, more secrets are revealed, resulting in edge-of-seat and thoughtprovoking drama.
