QUOTE OF THE DAY

‘From Rafa Benitez and Mauricio Pochettino to Eddie Howe who, only a few weeks ago, was Eddie Who?’

Old Firm games against the champions next season – and his two European games.”

Jim MacKenzie, East Kilbride, said: “It’s right to say Howe can replicate Brendan Rodgers at Celtic. He will stay at Parkhead just long enough to attract a Premier League team and then he’ll be off like a shot!”

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “We have the usual same arrogance from the Celtic camp with a new manager coming in, claiming next season’s league is won already. As if Steven Gerrard and Rangers, who already have everything in place, are just going to sit back. Celtic as a club have completely fallen apart and it will take more than one season to fix it.”

Samuel Ruddock, Ayr, said: “Celtic fans are struggling to accept defeat this season. They are now reversing the numbers one and zero and are saying their new Holy Grail of 01 in a row is a formality. I congratulate them on their failure to accept defeat.”

Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup last-16 with a win over Falkirk but not everyone was impressed.

David Bryce, Troon, said: “Good luck to the next Celtic manager because he’ll need it. If Howe was watching the Falkirk game then he’ll run for the hills.

“There is nothing to work with. I can’t wait to see the back of Leigh Griffiths and Ryan Christie who have been an embarrassment this season. The team is coached terribly. If John Kennedy is retained in any capacity then the Celtic fans deserve an explanation.”

Finally, Tom Paterson, Falkirk, said: “Do Rangers have no shame? Talk about a brass neck in appealing the Covid Five’s bans when they had two team-mates who were punished more severely.

“The fact the players didn’t learn lessons from the first case is beyond belief. The club should be fined – this is a virus that kills people and they are bringing the game into disrepute by this petty appeal.”
