PROSPECT OF EDDIE IS EXCITING

-

SCOTT BAIN admits Eddie Howe is an exciting prospect as Celtic boss – and landing a blockbuster boss could tempt some wantaway stars in to staying for the revolution.

Howe is on the brink of agreeing to become manager – and the contract could be sealed in the next few days.

Parkhead chiefs are ironing out details behind the scenes with discussions around backroom staff and the new director of football role.

Howe is keen to bring on board Bournemouth ally Richard Hughes but Celtic don’t believe it’s a stumbling block with the former Scotland international having been already on a list of potential targets supplied by the club’s headhunters.

Hoops fans have backed the bold move to land the ex-Bournemouth gaffer and Bain admitted he’s also thrilled to see the former Premier League boss in the mix.

He said: “I think it’s an exciting name. There will be a lot of managers out there who will want to take this job.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of people in the background, working behind the scenes making sure they pick the right candidate for the job.

“As players we can only concentrate on what we do on the pitch and we’ll do our best whoever it is that comes in.”

Celtic are expecting a summer revolution but Bain believes a few of his team-mates who are considering departures might be tempted in to U-turns with a manager like Howe coming in.

He said: “Could they change their minds? They might do, you never know. Every player has their own situations and their own agendas about what they want to achieve in football and where they want to play.

“It’s an individual thing. But you never know, whoever comes in might convince people who thought they wanted to play somewhere else to stay for another year or two.

“For me, I want to be here as long as possible and any time I get the chance to play I want to do my best for the club.”
