MONDAY JURY
Who is your Player of the Year?
1
Of all of Rangers’ star performers Steve Davis has shone the brightest, running the show from the centre of midfield. His form has been pretty much immaculate over the course of an outstanding campaign.
2
Steven Gerrard has to win this one hands down. The Scottish Cup is still to play for but this season was all about the title and Gerrard delivered on a spectacular level.
He’s played every minute of every league game in a defence that has conceded only 10 goals in that competition all season. For me, Connor Goldson is the pick.
Gerrard by a comfortable margin. Honourable mentions to Callum Davidson and David Martindale for what they’ve achieved on small budgets but Gerrard’s success in the league and Europe make him the man.
There is an argument for a handful of Rangers players but in the few weeks before the title was wrapped up it was Steven Davis who just nudged ahead of Allan McGregor and James Tavernier.
Who is Manager of the Year at this stage?
Gerrard as things stand. The only thing that could maybe change that would be Callum Davidson completing a cup double having also guided St Johnstone into the top six in his first job as manager.
James Tavernier set the tone for Rangers this season with his performances and output and has led from the front.
Callum Davidson won a major trophy and took St Johnstone into the top six in his first season. Gerrard has done brilliantly but the Betfred was only the second major honour won in Saints’ entire history.
