Get ready for laughter and surprises as brilliant new game show I Can See Your Voice hits our screens

-

When it comes to singing, what you see is not always what you get, as BBC One’s new entertainment show I Can See Your Voice is about to demonstrate.

Hosted by Paddy McGuinness, the game show sees two players teaming up in an attempt to weed out the good singers from the bad. But there’s a big twist – the line-up of singers they’re choosing from won’t be showing off their vocal talents. So all they’ll have to go on is clues, interrogation and lip-sync performances to see if they can work out who has the voice of an angel – and who will reduce the audience to putting their fingers in their ears. Once they’ve made their predictions, it’s the moment of truth as the chosen singer takes to the

microphone for a performance to remember alongside a weekly guest music star, including Alexandra Burke and Louise Redknapp.

If the duet sounds like a dream, the players bag £10,000 between them. But if it’s a match made in musical hell, the bad singer who managed to fool them takes the jackpot.

Helping out the players is a panel of three celebrity investigators – Jimmy Carr, Alison Hammond and Amanda Holden – who are on hand to lend their expertise and help get to the bottom of who they should choose.

And the trio promise that the guessing game will have audiences laughing and gasping in equal measure.

“It’s just one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” said Alison. “If it’s a good singer, we’re absolutely gutted because that means we’ve got rid of a good singer. But if they’re a bad singer, you’re just laughing your head off. You stand there with your hands in your ear. It’s so much fun.”

Her co-star Jimmy added: “And the bad singers aren’t just bad – they’re horrific. It’s just a wall of noise.”

However, host Paddy is keen to point out that everyone – investigators, players and singers – are all in it together.

He said: “When the bad singers sing, we’re not all laughing and pointing in a cruel way. They’re there because they want to win £10,000. They’re trying to blag their way through as many rounds as they can to get their hands on the money. So they’re in on it as well as they know they’re awful too.”

Amanda said: “The brilliant thing about this game show is everyone at home can play along as we’re all in the same boat. It’s really funny, there’s lots of banter and it’s just a bit of a laugh. God knows that’s what we need on the telly at the moment.”
