Lack of Livi fight the worst I’ve seen

-

JON GUTHRIE reckons a failure to fight made Saturday his worst day since joining Livingston.

The devastated defender could barely believe the lack of grit as his team were hammered at Parkhead.

David Martindale’s Lions pride themselves on their never-say-die attitude.

But Guthrie said: “It’s an easy excuse to say these things can happen. Don’t get me wrong, I thought Celtic were good but we have to look at ourselves as some of the goals were far too easy.

“We pride ourselves on being hard to beat but it was too easy for them.

“Celtic were on it and hard to stop but there’s more we could have done.

“We spoke in the dressing room afterwards and that’s the most disappointing thing, the fact that’s not what we’re about. Since my time here, that’s the worst loss I’ve had.

“Performance wise, result wise, we were just not at it. They had a lot of the ball at the start of the match without creating too many chances with it.

“But as soon as the goals started going in we didn’t seem to stand up and fight as we normally would do.

“We pride ourselves on not giving away chances but it was like once we lost a couple of goals, we almost seemed to give up far too many chances and we need to be better than that.

“It was bitterly disappointing. We have to give Celtic some credit. Some of their stuff is hard to play against when they are on it.

“Everyone was disappointed. No one wanted to make excuses and we’ll have a good look at it on Monday. No one was good enough against Celtic.

“You can’t just breeze past it, say that’s gone now and we move on. You have to look back first and look at what you could have done better.”
