PJ happy to be dropped into a scrap

-

PJ MORRISON wants to become an Ayr hero after being pitched into their relegation battle.

The Motherwell keeper has joined United for their final four games amid a goalie crisis at Somerset.

He helped earn a debut point against Dunfermline and hopes previous loan spells can inspire his form during the run-in.

Morrison said: “I was in a similar position on loan at Albion Rovers a couple of seasons ago.

“So I know what it’s like to be digging for results every week.

“We just stayed up in the last few games of the season there and the pressure was on.

“I know what I’m coming into, I think there’s enough talent in the changing room to do the job.

“It’s a chance for me to come in and get some first team games at an important time of the season. We’ve now got a six-pointer up at Arbroath

AYR ................. DUNF’LINE ..... next week and we need to go up there prepared for a big game.”

Declan McManus headed the Pars in front early on but Ayr levelled when Mark McKenzie and Jamie Barjonas combined to tee up Mikey Miller, who finished from close range.

Pars striker Kevin O’Hara said: “It’s always a disappointment not to pick up three points but we’re still in the same position going into the Dundee game on Tuesday.

“We have three home games coming up that are massive and we want to pick up maximum points.

“The reaction since we lost at Raith has been really good, as soon as we came into training that game was done. We’ve shown great attitude and workrate in the last two games.

“At this stage of the season it’s about points rather than performances.”
