IAN: WEEK IS A MASSIVE ONE

LEAGUE ONE

-

IAN McCALL says Partick are prepared for a “massive week” as they bid to move within a point of top spot before rivals kick a ball.

A win over Clyde tonight would leave third-placed Jags a point behind Cove.

Another on the road at Montrose on Thursday would send Thistle second, a point behind leaders Falkirk who next play Cove on Saturday lunchtime.

Boss McCall, whose side won their first game in four 3-0 at Peterhead three days ago, said: “It is the start of a massive week.

“We do not have much time for recovery because we’re straight back into it.

“A good win like Saturday should give us a bit of confidence and hopefully we can use this busy week as a chance to put a run together to get up this table.”

A win would lift Clyde four points clear of the relegation play-off, fresh from a 2-1 loss at Falkirk.

Gaffer Danny Lennon said: “The boys are giving everything.” Ex-Aberdeen

No.2 Tony Docherty will be in the Forfar dugout away to Airdrie tonight after agreeing to help caretaker Gary Irvine for the season.

Irvine, in charge of bottom-of-the-table Loons after Stuart Malcolm’s exit, said: “It is another quick turnaround and a game away from home where we will need to utilise as much of the squad as possible.

“We know what is required to survive.”

Airdrie came from two down to draw at Montrose on Saturday and boss Ian Murray said: “The players are working hard. We are battling right to the end of the game because we know the league is so tight and every point is massive.”
