Racist nurse: I’ll put your kids in care

Poison pen campaign of hatred against Scots-American woman

- BY SARAH VESTY

A MUM of four has told how her family live in fear after falling victim to a hate campaign by a healthcare worker.

The woman, a US national, has been receiving anti-immigrant abuse from the woman – who is known to the victim and her family – for the past nine years.

But matters came to a head after a chilling handwritten letter was delivered to the family’s home in Glenrothes, Fife, last month.

The 27-year-old mum, who was born in America but has lived since 2012 in Scotland where she started her family, was forced to call in the police.

The note, signed by the woman who describes herself as a nurse, said: “I’m sure by now you’ve had enough visitors at your door to make your life a f ****** misery.

“I’m going to have those bairns taken into care and finally ruin your life, you f ****** immigrant b **** .

“I know where you live and what car you drive your bairns in.

“I have contacted immigration to have you removed. I don’t care if you are legal, you’re not welcome in my country, you white n ***** .

“I didn’t become a nurse to help scrounging immigrants like you. I wish you bled out on that table and done the work for me.

“I am going to make your life a misery. Soon lockdown is ending and so are you.”

The mum told how the family have been forced to move home, take their kids out of school, keep their curtains shut 24/7 and install additional security.

She said: “We’re like prisoners. It’s just a nightmare.

“We’ve had to move house a couple of times and we’re now looking at leaving Fife because we just can’t take it any more.

“We’ve spent thousands on security and moving.

“We never wanted to do anything that could have repercussions on us or make us bigger targets but when we received the note through the door, that was the turning point for us. It’s absolutely horrendous.”

A police spokesperson confirmed their enquiries were ongoing.

They said: “A 38-year-old woman was arrested and then released pending further enquiries.”
