I like routine – even during a pandemic Laura Hamilton
My weekends have probably been a bit different to most people’s this year, because I’ve got a coffee shop and restaurant. It was a village shop before we bought it and when Covid started I made the decision to turn it back into the shop and get all the necessary supplies like fruit, sugar and vegetables out to those in the community who were vulnerable. So I’ve spent a lot of time during the weekends delivering produce.
Still, I’m very much into routine – even during a pandemic. On a Friday evening we’ll have the children in bed on time so we can get our evening. Once they are down we’ll enjoy a takeaway and a G&T followed by a film or something on Netflix.
On Saturdays, we’re up early and out ready to sort the deliveries for the shop. Afterwards, we’ll go for a walk around the village green.
On Saturday evenings, if it’s warm weather, we’ll sit in the garden around the firepit. Sometimes I might get my laptop out and sort some orders or invoices, much to Alex’s annoyance.
On Sundays, we love a roast. We’ll get up and put on something like a five-hour slow roast leg of lamb or a delicious hog roast. The shop is open on a Sunday, so the morning is taken up with that.
Afterwards, we’ll get outside for another walk or a bike ride. Then, we’ll head home for our meal before making sure the children’s homework is done. Then it’s bath, story and bed and probably an early night for Alex and me, too. ● A new series of A Place In The Sun starts soon on Channel 4
