Scott: Our first goal is just to win the games

- Heather Dewar

SCOTT BOOTH knows goal difference could be crucial in the SWPL1 title race but insists winning games is the first priority.

Champions Glasgow City and Rangers are level at the top on 24 points, with the Light Blues seven goals better off.

But City boss Booth is looking for three points first, when his side host Motherwell tomorrow.

He said: “I think that it’s a bit disrespectful to other clubs to go into these games saying we want to score so many goals. First, we have to win them and if the situation comes along, try our best to score more.”

Interim Motherwell head coach Stewart Hall is keen for his side to stop their slide after two straight defeats.

He said: “The performances have been fantastic and to walk away both times with a defeat, we actually felt a bit hard done by.

“We want to test ourselves against the best in the country. Glasgow City have proved over the last decade or more that they are the best, so we look forward to it and hopefully we can make a good spectacle of it.”

Forfar Farmington travel to Hearts, looking to recover from their 7-0 defeat by Glasgow City last weekend.

Head coach Kevin McGreskin said: “We want to finish as high as we can and we’ll only do that by winning games like this.”

Hearts could leapfrog Motherwell with a win and head coach Andy Kirk said: “We expect a hard game from a tough opponent. If we can put in a good performance, hopefully we’ll get the result we are looking for.”

Malky Thomson insists their 3-2 win over Motherwell means Hibernian are on a high going into their clash with Rangers, who hammered Spartans 5-0 last week.

He said: “Rangers have returned from the break as they left it – ruthless. But we are full of confidence and know we create chances in every game we play.”

Third-placed Celtic will look to keep hot on the heels of the leaders when they travel to face Spartans.
