The Last Word

- Siân Welby

What are your favourite television shows?

I absolutely love Brooklyn Nine-Nine but the show I’ve watched most recently is Behind Her Eyes. The first episode you’re not that drawn and then, wow, it takes you on an absolute ride. It’s one of the best things I’ve seen in a while that got me hooked with all the twists and turns. There is also a massive plot twist at the end. I also loved The Undoing with Nicole Kidman. What’s your TV guilty pleasure? I’ve been watching Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills from season one, Below Deck and 90 Day Fiancé. They are proper guilty pleasures. Everyone has told me I have to watch Married At First Sight Australia but there are about 40 episodes and they’re 90 minutes long so I don’t know if I have the energy.

Are you a binge-watcher?

Oh, 100 per cent. I’m so weak when it comes to a cliffhanger. Even if I know I’ve got to be in bed and it’s midnight and I have to be up in four hours for the radio show, it’s so difficult to not watch the next one. The show I watched in one day was It’s A Sin. It deserves all the awards. There are a lot of dark and sad moments but it’s also quite an uplifting show about an epic friendship group. You take a lot from it.

Is there anything you won’t watch?

I tend to avoid really corny rom-com type things because I like a bit of thrill and mystery. I always thought that I wouldn’t do period dramas but I am tempted by Bridgerton and The Crown purely by the hype. Your co-host Sonny Jay won this year’s Dancing On Ice. Are there any reality shows you woud like to do? I put money on Sonny winning when I watched his first skate. I felt like a pageant mum, I was sweating every time he skated. I think it’s nice doing shows where you learn a skill. I’d really be up for Strictly Come Dancing or I’m A Celebrity… That’s the one I’ve always wanted to do. The creepy crawlies I think I could do, the thing that freaks me out the most is the eating challenges. I’d rather have a tarantula on my face than eat a rotten egg. I’m one of those people who sniffs milk before I pour it into my tea, even though I know it’s fresh. Who would be your dream guest to have on Capital Breakfast? The idols are Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I’d also love to have all the big stars right now like Ariana Grande. I want to know how long her ponytail is in real life and I want to have a bear hug from The Rock and feel how muscly he is! I can’t wait to be able to have guests in the studio. It’s so much fun meeting these amazing people and doing things like force-feeding them weird food. I once got Pink to eat a cracker coated in thick Marmite as she’d never tried it before. She gagged and said it smelt of sadness and tasted like belly button fluff and rotten Cheetos. lSian Welby presents Capital Breakfast alongside Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay, weekdays, from 6am to 10am.
