Klopp’s ready to chop and change Reds’ goal-shy stars

-

JURGEN KLOPP insists his famous front line has no divine right to selection – and he’ll wield the axe if their rotten run goes on.

The Liverpool manager knows his side have struggled in front of goal in recent months and ahead of their clash at Leeds tonight, he warned that there may be changes ahead for his Reds.

Asked if he needs to change his forward line or wait for it to fix itself, he said: “Probably both.

“We agree that with the quality the boys have they will score goals but in this period where they don’t score you have to think, ‘Do you intervene or just let it go?’

“If we’d taken our chances we could have had a different game, is what people have told me.

“So, yes, that is a little bit like how the season has been.

“We had more chances than the opponent. There is only one real chance – you have to carry on, trust yourselves still, you have to be positive and to go for it.”

Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa reckons Stuart Dallas is the Elland Road answer to Javier Zanetti.

The Chilean coached the Argentina legend while he was in charge of the national team.

And he believes that Northern Ireland international Dallas – who netted twice against Manchester City last week – reminds him of the Inter Milan great.

The Leeds gaffer said: “I had a player like Dallas, Javier Zanetti, and also Julio Saldana at Newell’s. It’s the versatility – he’s a potent, powerful player who can use either foot and is good at defending.

“He has the capacity to combine as well as make runs, which allows him to flourish playing in the middle. He has a change of rhythm and surprise when he attacks.”
