Old habits DIY hard
Carol gets back in the groove with home revamp
SHE might not have been asked to host the new revamp of her old show - but Carol Smillie still has what it takes when it comes to Changing Rooms.
The former home improvement show host has shared pictures of herself on social media giving a stylish makeover to the lounge of her Glasgow home. A series of before and after shots reveal how she has spent the last two months transforming the room from having dated red walls and a red carpet, to looking like the sophisticated seating area of a boutique hotel. Dressed in her trademark DIY dungarees, she can be seen stripping walls and hanging wallpaper. Using the hashtag “changingrooms” and thanking her husband Alex Knight and daughter Jodie for their help, she posted: “Makeover complete. Got fed up waiting for fabric shops to open and modified ready-made curtains instead. Old habits die hard.” Carol and Alex started the project in February, with Carol posting a picture of them on Valentine’s Day hard at work. She said: “For some people it’s flowers and chocs but for us, it’s paint and filler.” Last year Channel 4 bosses announced they had signed up Davina McCall and designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to host the comeback series of Changing Rooms, but Davina has since dropped out. Earlier TV GOLD The original series this month Carol, who now works as a humanist celebrant conducting non-religious weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies, denied reports she was upset not to be asked to host the show.
She said: “What a load of old b ****** s, I am NOT ‘unhappy’ and wish the Changing Rooms reboot all the success it deserves. We all move on in life.”
