Si expecting more highs from Spiders

-

SIMON MURRAY made it three goals in three games for Queen’s Park as the Spiders went top of the table with a 3-0 win over Dumbarton.

Murray insists there is more to come from his side this season.

He said: “I don’t think that is the best we will get. We will get even better.

“We are a young team but we have signed a few new players and we can keep improving.

“It was nice to score three goals and the performance was good.

“We were deserving of the win.”

Murray set the ball rolling with the opening goal before second-half goals from Louis Longridge and Liam Brown sealed the win.

Murray said: “We will try and surprise people and we are quietly confident about what we have got.

“We will keep our ambitions to ourselves.”

Falkirk’s teenage defender Mackenzie Lemon was delighted with his team’s hard-fought 2-1 win at Airdrie.

The Bairns played the entire second half with 10 men after Steven Hetherington was sent off when they led 2-0 through Callumn Morrison and Aidan Keena.

Gabby McGill got one back for Airdrie but Falkirk hung on.

Lemon said: “Everyone had to dig in but all the boys put in a good shift and it was great to get the three points.

“I only knew I was going to be involved when we arrived at the stadium but it was great to get thrown in, and hopefully I can kick on from here. I felt we deserved to win.”

Paul Hartley has urged his side to be better defensively despite Mitch Megginson’s hat-trick helping Cove Rangers to a 5-2 win against East Fife.

Robbie Leitch and Rory McAllister got the other Cove goals with Connor McManus and Kevin Smith on target for the Fifers.

Hartley said: “It is great to score five goals but you always want to try and keep a clean sheet. We were loose defending.”

David Goodwillie’s double helped Clyde to their first win of the season after beating Alloa 2-1 with Stefan Scougall scoring for the Wasps.

Graham Webster’s second-half penalty saw Montrose beat Peterhead 1-0 at Links Park.
