FORREST WILL STAY ON FIRE

-

ALAN FORREST has vowed to match his League Cup scoring spree by hitting the goal trail for Livingston in the Premiership this season.

The winger was the Betfred Cup’s highest scorer with seven last term as the Lions marched all the way to the final before losing to St Johnstone.

He was on the scoresheet again in the Premier Sports version at the weekend with the goal that eventually allowed the Almondvale men to squeeze past St Mirren on penalties and set up a quarter-final with Rangers.

But with only four goals in 30 outings in the league last season, the 24-year-old now has his sights set on improving his return in the top-flight.

The former Ayr United attacker said: “It’s a new season and you want to get off the mark quickly.

“It was a good ball from Pitts [Scott Pittman] to play me through and I’ve finished it well, and hopefully I can build on that.

“Hopefully I will be able to take that into the league and score more in the league games.”

Keeper Max Stryjek was Livingston’s hero with two saves in the shoot-out just six days on from his injurytime error that cost the Lions a point in their 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen in the Premiership.

Forrest added: “Since he’s been at the club, Max has been outstanding. He never really made a lot of mistakes last season.

“Obviously he made that one against Aberdeen.

“But it just shows you how quickly it turns. He’s now the hero.

“I’m delighted for him and delighted for the boys as well.”
